The Gaming Giant Hires Apex Legends Lead to Revitalize Challenged Action Game Project Ethos
2K Games has appointed a seasoned producer from Respawn Entertainment to oversee the development team at 31st Union, which is currently developing the upcoming third-person action-packed title known as this innovative game.
Leadership Change Follows Poor Feedback
Brinkman takes on the role of studio head at the development studio following the exit of previous head Michael Condrey, who was reportedly let go due to Project Ethos' disappointing initial reveal last fall.
Recently, the company's top executive David Ismailer updated employees about this strategic move through an internal memo, which stressed that early feedback sessions had revealed the need for a clearer direction.
The president expressed that the developers is now reimagining Project Ethos with a renewed vision, aiming to satisfy gamer demands.
Trend of Key Recruitment
This announcement mirrors a comparable step taken by the publisher in August, when they brought on Rod Fergusson from the Diablo team to assist with the beloved franchise studio Cloud Chamber.
Here is the entire text from the president's memo:
Hello Everyone—
I understand you all just wrapped up your meeting - I hope you’re as enthusiastic as I am with the recent updates. Previously I sent you all a message, I stated the following: “I am confident in this group. You all are some of the most dedicated and creative developers we have had the chance to work with - and we’re eager for that partnership to persist.”
With your dedication and adaptability, especially over the past twelve months, you repeatedly show that.
The player input from last autumn’s Project ETHOS demo was enlightening. It confirmed the promise of a roguelike shooter but told us we still had improvements to make. It uncovered the necessity for a more distinct brand.
The progress is encouraging to see how far you’ve come. You took the criticism to consideration and revamped the title with a revitalized direction - one that’s positioned to achieve its promise to our fans.
The trust in this project increases every day. To further the remarkable advancement you’ve made, I’m excited to introduce the new hire as the latest Lead of the team. Following several months of discussions, he starts with us on next week.
His guidance and expertise in the PVP shooter field is considerable, having devoted the recent years developing and managing some of the most well-known franchises in gaming, for example Call of Duty: Black Ops, and lately, the battle royale hit.
Please join me in receiving him soon. We are all eager to persist witnessing the progress of Project ETHOS in the time to come.
The President

Game Details and Vision
Project Ethos was unveiled in last year together with a community playtest. At the time, 31st Union portrayed the game as a "no-cost, 3rd-person roguelike hero shooter and an exciting step forward on the style."
"Build your perfect run—or die trying—in this 3rd-person action shooter! Build your hero in live gameplay to suit your personal playstyle," the game's pitch explains. "Face the rivals with fresh skills, challenges, and tests that change every match. Will you leave securely with your valuable rewards? Or take a risk, put it on the line, and trust your group can secure victory? The choice is up to you."
Project Ethos does not have an confirmed release date or consoles, but fans can look forward to further news as creation progresses.
