Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been earned on hard courts

A resurgent the Russian player secured his initial title for 882 days with victory over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.

The Russian, a former world number one, has endured a challenging season, achieving just a single victory at the big events and suffering a difficult moment at the American major.

His inconsistency on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serving in particular - resulted in him dropping out of the top ten and finally splitting with long-term coach his previous coach.

Currently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, he has consistently progressed in the past month - peaking in a hard-fought three-set victory over opponent Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's maiden title following the Italian tournament and first on a hardcourt from March of the previous year.

The win also indicates Medvedev has secured twenty-one championships at 21 various events.

"For the first time I am participating in a competition with my children together, so to get a championship is especially meaningful," stated tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in tribute of my younger daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I won when my child her name was born was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his past six title deciders, including in the German tournament previously this season.

The player's retrieving play style and recurring reactions on the playing surface had led observers to doubt if his capacity to play at the elite level was concluded.

However the athlete has made changes in recent weeks, making an effort to advance forward and perform aggressively, reinforced by an improved serving game.

Medvedev came back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the challenging opponent, taking four of the last five exchanges to go ahead.

Both players exchanged service breaks in the middle set before Moutet, bidding for his maiden professional victory, seized the initiative to create a decider.

The opponent defended 4 early break points in a competitive deciding set before the champion secured a break to 15 to serve for the match.

Fittingly, the winner earned victory with a point at the net, with Moutet unable to manage a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
